Special School District- Parent Website

Special education can be a difficult topic to maneuver for parents with all of the acronyms and terms that you might hear. If you are wanting to understand more about what's available or what process the schools use for determining services, this website is for you! Even if your student is not appropriate for special education services, I still highly recommend the parent education workshops available to any parents. Last year I attend a workshop on "Brain Gym" and it was excellent!

HSD Community Resource Mapping Project

I became interested this summer in community mapping after reading an article in a professional journal (ASCA).  After exploring the capabilities of Google Maps, I became intrigued by the possibility of mapping our community digitally.  In the past I've been able to hand out a list of resources and phone numbers.  In the future I hope to be able to additionally provide more specific information for a resource and create a visual representation of services available to our students and families in the North County area.  I'm in the first stages of a community mapping project (with only two essential resources plotted so far), but check back and hopefully we'll make some progress on it in the upcoming months.

Click on each "blue flag" below for information on the resource located there.  For a larger map, with the list of resources on the side, click the link below the map.
